Wayne R. Wilson

Wayne R. Wilson, age 75, passed away on May 7, 2018 at his home in Tuscaloosa. Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. A visitation will immediately precede the service, beginning at 2:00 p.m.

Wayne was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Following his service in the Alabama National Guard, he opened Wayne Wilson Texaco in 1970, which he owned and operated for over forty years, developing a loyal customer base and establishing many strong friendships throughout his career. Wayne prided himself on hard work and humility, exemplifying a true servant’s heart in his constant willingness to help others in need, while never expecting anything in return.

Wayne is preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Kay Wilson, and his parents, Clara Prisoc Wilson and Roy Melton Wilson.

He is survived by his daughter, Teia Wilson Standeffer (Luke); sons, Michael Wilson (Shelbi) and Scott Wilson (Jessica); grandchildren, Ashton Standeffer, Wilson Standeffer, Jack Standeffer, Morgan Wilson, Kailin Wilson, Belle Wilson, Anna Scott Wilson, Emily Wilson, and Madeline Wilson; and mother-in-law, Ernestine Lancaster, all of Tuscaloosa.

Pallbearers will be Willie Beck, Revis Hayes, David Jones, Mark Powers, and Mike Isaacs.

Honorary pallbearers are the past and present employees of Wayne Wilson Texaco, Dr. Brian Wilhite, the staff of Internal Medicine Associates of Tuscaloosa, and the staff of Hospice of West Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
