TUSCALOOSA – Virginia C. Payne, age 87, of Tuscaloosa, formerly of Greensboro, passed away on October 1, 2018, at Moundville Health & Rehabilitation L.L.C. She was a loving, devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a loyal member of Five Mile Primitive Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wallace E. Payne, Sr.; her parents Charlie and Maggie Cole; sisters Elsie Cole and Miriam Green; brothers Neil Cole, Ivy Cole, Harry Cole, Charlie Cole, Al Cole and Phillip Cole.
Survivors include daughters Pat Yawn (Richard), Nan Lathum, Pam Stewart (Frank); and son Wallace E. Payne, Jr. (Ronna); fourteen grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Virginia was a Mary Kay Cosmetics consultant for over 40 years. She had a great love of flowers, loved the outdoors, and used her "green thumb" to plant flowers. Her hobbies included flower arranging, decorating baskets, and decorating flowers.
A celebration of Virginia's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Five Mile Primitive Baptist Church in Akron, Alabama, with Memory Chapel Funeral Home directing. Officiating the service will be Elders Luke Laird, Bobby Payne, and Tim McCool . Pallbearers will be Lance Hocutt, David Holland, Brian Kimbrow, Kris Kutz, Donald Morrison, and Daniel Cole. Honorary pallbearers are employees of Amedysis Hospice and employees of Moundville Health and Rehabilitation, L.L.C. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Five Mile Primitive Baptist Church or Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church.
