Born September 15, 1951, the youngest of four siblings to the late Clifford & Doris Gibson in Madison, WV.
Preceded in death are brothers Richard Daniels and Joe Gibson, Father and Mother in law Earl and Matilda Daniels, sister in law Virginia Daniels, and Brothers in law Daryl Travis and Earl Eastridge.
Survived by his high school sweetheart, wife of 51 years, Priscilla Laine Daniels Gibson, his brother Jimmy Gibson, his daughters, Rhonda Cheryl (Stephen Dwayne) Poe, Shannon Michelle (Kimberly Zielinski) Gibson, and Alicia Renee (Brian Keith) Henderson. Grandchildren, Stephen Tyler (Jessalyn Lenora) Poe, Taylor Danielle Gibson, Morgan Mahala Poe, Gage John Hansford Garrison, and Gavin Daniel Kizziah. Great-grandchildren Daisy Lenora and Jeremiah Drayk Savage and host of beloved family and friends.
Van was a retired passionate coal miner of 48 years. He excelled at having an open heart and mind. Van was a hard worker and left this world doing exactly what he loved. He loved his family and life to the fullest. Family and friends could depend on Van for anything as he was considered the “Jack of all trades.” He loved to travel, from cruising, camping, Niagara Falls, the Great Wall of China, Yankee Stadium, Nascar, and finally to his heavenly home to celebrate his birthday. He was a faithful member of Grace Connection church where he humbly served the Lord.
Arrangements will be handled by Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, A Dignity Memorial Provider with services officiated by Bro. Rick Davis. Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, September 18, 2020, from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Celebration of Life services will be at 11:00 a.m. at Heritage Chapel. Burial to follow at Memory Hill Garden.
Pallbearers will be his daughters and their spouses, along with his niece Nicole Dunn, Willie Smith, and Tyler Poe.
Honorary Pallbearers are friends and family.
