It is with great sadness that the family of Terry Jackson Bunn, Sr. announces his passing on March 12, 2021 at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas at the age of 68. He was born on March 10, 1953 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama
Terry is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Kay Allen Bunn, sons Terry Jackson Bunn, Jr. (Caitlin) and Kane Allen Bunn (Krissy). He will also be fondly remembered by his three granddaughters, Kailey Grace Bunn, Brinley Kate Bunn and Sarah Kelly Bunn. Terry also leaves behind his brother S T Bunn, Jr. (Kay), sister Shelia Poe (Gene), mother-in-law Sara Allen, brothers-in-law, Gil Allen (Elaine) and Mike Allen (Ellen) as well as a host of nieces, nephews and beloved family dog, Pete. He was predeceased by his parents S T Bunn, Sr. and Irene Hocutt Bunn as well as his father-in-law, John Allen.
Terry was known as an avid hunter, fisherman and Alabama Crimson Tide supporter. He was known to be extremely humble and dependable. Terry also had a quick-wit about him that was infectious to those around him. He was a 1971 graduate from Holt High School and a 1976 graduate of Livingston University (UWA). Terry also served Vice-President of S T Bunn Construction Co., Inc. and President of Bunn Brothers Materials, Inc. He was also a member and former Chairman of UWA Board of Trustees, member and former President of Alabama Asphalt Association, past President of Alabama Road Builders, former member of Samford Board of Trustees, former member of Board for Alabama Trust Fund, member of The University of Alabama President’s Cabinet and member and former Deacon of First Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa. Terry was a wonderful husband, father and “Poppa” as well as a well-respected, hardworking businessman. He will truly be missed by all that knew him and those who lives he touched in the community.
Visitation will take place on March 18th from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. with the Memorial Service to follow beginning at 2:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa with Dr. Gil McKee and Dr. Rick Lance officiating with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, A Dignity Memorial Provider handling arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Lee, John Plott, Judge Chuck Malone, Mike Echols, Buddy Manderson, Alex Saad, Dr. Bryan Givhan, and David Reed.
Honorary Pallbearers are employees of S T Bunn Construction Co., Inc., Bunn Brothers Materials, Inc., Woods and Water, members of the Board of Trustees of the University of West Alabama, The University of Alabama Athletic Department, Alabama Road Builders Association, Alabama Asphalt Pavement Association as well as the Malone-Carroll Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church and a multitude of friends and family who loved Terry dearly.
