Shirley Young

Shirley Young, age 76, of Sterrett, Alabama passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2023. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Bobbie Hubbard; husband, Carlton M. Young; daughter, Glenda Kinard; sisters, Miriam Lovoy and April Whitten.

She is survived by her son, Morgan Young (Lori) of Sterrett, AL; sisters, Lenora Sharp of Centreville, AL, Margaret Cox (James) of Brent, AL, Bobbie Jean Schoenbauer of Centreville, AL, and Wanda Bratten (Kenny) of McCalla, AL; brothers, Charlie Hubbard (Katherine) of Centreville, AL; grandchildren, Josh Kinard (Erin), Carla Kinard, Bethany Kinard, Zoey Young, Jaci Young, and Levi Young; great-grandchildren, Billy and Noah Kinard; along with several nieces and nephews.

Shirley was born and raised in West Blocton and graduated class of 1965 from Bibb Co. High School. She was married to her wonderful husband for 53 years. She retired from Bryce Hospital in 1990 and enjoyed her time traveling with friends and gardening. She was active in her church and supported various charities.

Pallbearers are Josh Kinard, Paul Cox, Adam Cox, Kevin Young, Donald Boyd, and Kenny Bratton.
