Shirlee Sanburn McNorton, age 87, was born on November 8, 1934 and passed away on June 16, 2022. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. Ms. McNorton will be laid to rest in Memory Hill Gardens.
Shirlee was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Willis Sanburn and Genevieve Ullrich Sanburn; and her husband, Jimmie Frank McNorton.
She is survived by her children, Jeff McNorton (Lisa), Craig McNorton (Kyle); her grandchildren, Colby McNorton (Rachel), Lee McNorton, and Colleen McNorton; and her great-grandchildren, Hayes McNorton and Copeland McNorton.
Shirlee graduated from the University of Iowa where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. After moving to Tuscaloosa in 1966 she became an active parishioner of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Shirlee took pride in her work with the Social Security Administration where she retired after 36 years. Shirlee was a member of many various social clubs including the Heritage Club where she served as President. Shirlee was a lifelong bridge player and enjoyed spending time with her friends. Her greatest pride was in her grandchildren. She enjoyed attending their many various activities. Shirlee’s love of life and fun loving spirit will be missed by her family and many friends.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Shirlee's memory to the American Heart Association or Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
