Sara L Smith, 89, passed away Jan. 20 in Brandon, MS, surrounded by loving family. Sara was born and raised in Tuscaloosa, and she raised her family there, as well. A Tuscaloosa High School graduate, she was a homemaker, an active volunteer in her children’s schools, and a longtime member of Five Points Baptist Church. A wonderful cook and natural caretaker, no one ever went hungry or untended while visiting her. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.
Sara was preceded in death by her parents, James M. and Birdie Lou Ball, her husband, James W. Smith, her brother, Bo Ball and sister, Katie Boykin.
She is survived by her children, Lorrie (Bob) Tingle, Jeff (Lisa) Smith, Brad (Marilyn) Smith, and Jim (Donna) Smith; her loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a private graveside service at Memory Hills Gardens in Tuscaloosa.
