Ronald “Buster” Skelton was born on October 8, 1950 to William B. and Willard L. Skelton in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1968 and then attended the University of West Alabama. He later began his career at BFGoodrich , where he worked for more than 30 years. Buster married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Brenda, on October 30, 1970. They recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary. Together they have one daughter, who they love greatly, Angela S. Whitehead, and two grandchildren. Along with his career at BFGoodrich, Mr. Skelton also served as a Reserve Deputy and on the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff Departments Mounted Unit. He retired in 2001 and enjoyed spending time working on cars and racing them with his brother Bill. He also enjoyed his car club and attending car shows. He loved American muscle cars, especially 66-67 Chevelles. His latest passion was growing and collecting daylilies. He has many different varieties, in all colors and sizes. He graciously shared flowers and plants with his family and friends alike. He delighted in his family, especially his two grandchildren, Victoria, 19, and William, 14. He loved spending time with them, fishing in his pond, riding golf carts, four wheelers and spoiling them whenever he had the chance. Mr. Skelton loved the Lord with all his heart, and taught his family to honor the Lord in all they do. He and Brenda attended Taylorville Baptist, until his health would no longer allow.
Buster was a wonderful and devoted husband, father, and “PawPaw”. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A visitation for Buster will be held Wednesday, November 8, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Taylorville Baptist Church, 7201 Moundville Ln, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35405, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
