He is preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn Johnson; sons, Doug and Wayne Johnson; daughter-in-law, Kisha Johnson; parents, Arvin and Maggie Johnson; sister, Maudine Taylor; brother, Irvin Paul Johnson.
He is survived by his daughter, Alinda Miller (Jeff); grandchildren, Caitlin Miller, Hannah Johnson and Hunter Johnson.
Raiford was born on County Road 46 in Hale County, AL on April 23, 1941. His dying wish was to pass away on County Road 46 which was fulfilled. He graduated from Hale County High School where he play baseball and football. He received a scholarship to Georgia Tech which he declined due to not wanting to leave his family. His career started at Parlow State School and he retired from there. He was an outdoors man who loved hunting, fishing, and driving his truck. He loved all animals and helping others. He loved watching football and baseball. He loved his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Honorary pallbearers, Dr. Larry Skelton and staff, Amedisys Hospice, Haley Reynolds, Shamoka Wilder, Lisa Doss, Laura Thomas, Danielle Hobson, Leigh Gaddy, Chaplin Ron Martin, Bob and Lynne Chavis, Ted Barrett, Melvin Snow, Andrew Stone, Butch Teat, and brothers Charles and Jean Spence and many friends and family.
A graveside service for Raiford will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Oak Hill Cemetery, Moundville, AL.
