Monteen Davis Hardin, age 93, went to be with the Lord on July 1, 2023. Monteen, a long-time resident of Tuscaloosa, had been living in Sugar Land, Texas the last 7 years. Monteen’s life will be celebrated at Memory Chapel Funeral Home at 10 a.m. on July 27th officiated by Pastor Donald Payne. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation with the family is planned for July 26th from 6 to 8 p.m.
Monteen was born May 17, 1930 in Haleyville, Alabama. She and James Hardin were married 60 years and raised their three sons in Tuscaloosa. Monteen previously worked at Alabama Power Company, State Farm Insurance, and Warrior Paper, but her favorite career was homemaker. Monteen loved God, her family, her church, and the Alabama Crimson Tide. She was an active member of Forest Lake Baptist Church for over 60 years, serving as a greeter and on numerous committees. She was a fabulous cook known for her pecan pies and Italian cream cakes. She always flashed a bright smile and a quick response to “Roll Tide!”
Monteen was preceded in death by her husband James Hardin; her father, Noah Davis; her mother, Ethel Taylor Davis; and her three sisters, Flossie McNutt, Stella Green, and Juanita Sparks.
Mrs. Hardin or as her family called her, Nana, is survived by three sons, Greg Hardin (Sheri) of Sugar Land, Texas, Neal Hardin of Houston, Texas, and Paul Hardin of Tuscaloosa; five grandchildren, Brett Hardin (Angie), Lacey Luebke (Nate), Sean Hardin, Shana Hardin, and Hannah Tyra (Zane); four great-grandchildren, Caleb and Daniel Hardin, and Felicity and Hayden Luebke.
Pallbearers will be her sons’ Neal and Paul Hardin, her grandsons’ Brett and Sean Hardin, her nephew Frank McNutt, and her grandson-in-law Nate Luebke.
Honorary pallbearers are her Sunday School class of Forest Lake Baptist Church; Larry & Sandra Burleson; Frank McNutt; Don & Charlotte McNutt; Dan & Linda Kay Young; Sue Deslattes; Scottie & Kathryn Hardin; Chuck Malone; Ted Jackson; Johnny Matthews; The Connectors Class, Dr. Taylor Sandlin, and Pastor Davey Gibson of Sugar Land Baptist Church; and Karen Browne of the Clare Bridge Unit of Brookdale Sugar Land.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Forest Lake Baptist Church.
