Marilyn Beams, known to most as “May May” was born June 4, 1941. She was an incredibly strong woman and loved her family with all of her heart. She was full of life, loved to laugh, exuded joy everywhere she went, and had the most beautiful smile filled with her actual teeth, a fact of which she was very proud! She was a lunchroom manager at Arcadia Elementary for over 20 years, and almost everywhere she went she was met with a “Hey Ms. Beams!” from a student, excited to see her out in public. Music was in her body and it was not uncommon for her to break out into impromptu dancing and singing. She poured her love and joy on everyone she met, spoiling her three grandkids and six great-grand kids, and cooking plenty of food and baking lots of sweets any time someone visited. She is going to be missed dearly, but her family is happy to know that she is healed, happy, and whole in heaven. We will love you forever, May May.
Ms. Beams was preceded in death by her father W. Stanley Carter, mother Leona K. Carter and one sister Joann C. Kyzer.
She is survived by her daughter Robin (Billy) Rigsby of Tuscaloosa, her son Brian (Cindy) Beams of Akron, AL; brothers: Stanley “Buddy” (Teri) Carter and Ken (Pam) Carter all of Tuscaloosa; grandchildren: April Joann (Jake) Huggins of Alabaster, Bradley Beams of Akron and Aleca MaLynn (Jonathan) Cottingham of Northport; great grandchildren: Jude Huggins, Poppy Huggins, Ben Huggins, Joey Rigsby, Daisy Huggins, Ellie Wade Cottingham; and her special friend Frankie Minor.
Billy Rigsby, Frank Fann, Jake Huggins, Jonathan Cottingham, Bradley Beams and Jude Huggins will serve as Active Pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Kindred Home Health and her Rosedale Family & Friends.
