Luther Bridges, 84 was born on March 6, 1939, to Luther, Sr. and Adelle Hawkins Bridges. After graduating from Clarke County High School, he served as a member of the Alabama National Guard. In 1957 he left Clarke County and headed to Auburn University were he graduated in 1961, with a Civil Engineering degree that he used to build lock and dams within Alabama. Luther worked as the Assistant Operations Manager at US Army Corps of Engineers. LE was one of the kindest and most genuine men that walked this Earth. He loved his family, working in his yard, his church, fishing trips with friends and anything Auburn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sue; sons, Ronnie and Mickey; brother, William “Buddy” Bridges and niece, Melanie Bridges.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Ruth Bradford; brother, Gerald (Diane); Sister-in-Law, Dorothy; Nephews, Chris (Laurie) and Bill (Janet); Niece, Julia and Ruth’s children, Maurice Dyess, Cindy Dyess, Marsha Powell (Dennis), Grandchildren Ryan (Candace) Powell, Brooke Powell, Brandon (Jenna) Powell, Jenni Dyess; Great Grandchildren, Grayson, Lynley, Colton Powell and Kaden Dyess; two great nieces and great nephews, Anderson, Kara, Ashlea Kierce, and Colton.
Visitation will be held at Memory Chapel Funeral Home on Skyland Boulevard in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on Saturday, June 3, 2023 from 1:00 pm-2:00 pm with the service to begin at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Garden. Pallbearers will be Dennis Powell, Ryan Powell, Brandon Powell, Bill Bridges, Chris Bridges and Rickey Salter.
