Johnie Wayne Cleckler

EUTAW – Johnie Wayne Clecker, age 75, passed away January 5, 2023 at Aliceville Manor. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Jason Stephens officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in First Baptist Church of Clinton Cemetery.

Mr. Cleckler was preceded in death by his parents, Johnie V. Cleckler and Ollie Mae Headley Clecker; and brothers, Donald Ray Cleckler and Roger Dale Cleckler, all of Clanton, Ala.

He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Cleckler Capps of Mobile, Ala.; sister, Shirley Cleckler Pigg (David) of Eutaw; grandchildren, Joshua M. Cleckler of Clanton, Ala., Brook Capps Lovejoy (Michael) of Talladega, Ala., and Hannah Capps Smitherman (Kendall) of Mobile, Ala.; seven great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Johnie enjoyed hunting and fishing, digging for gemstones and fossils, and tending to his plants, flowers, and blueberry bushes. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force, and then later worked as a carpenter and painter. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Cleckler, Cody Pigg, James Gay, and Heath Stephens.
