The graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at 2:00 pm at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Larry Corder officiating and Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, A Dignity Memorial Provider, directing.
Bro. Davis was preceded in death by his son, Randy Davis, grandson, Jason Davis, parents, Thomas Edward (Sr.) and Mrytle Allen Davis, and brothers, Leonard Davis, Spurgeon Davis, Paul Davis, Edward
(Ed) Davis of Oxford, MS, and J.B. Davis.
Survivors include his wife of 76 years, Dorothy Savage Davis, Daughter Kay Black (Larry), daughter in law Marie Davis, grandchildren Leslie Corlett (Stephen), Steven Davis, Scot Black (Wendy), great grandchildren Tyler, Lucas and Campbell Corlett, Pamela and Elijah Davis, Braxton and Brody Black and sister in law, Nancy Jacobs Davis.
Bro. Davis answered the call to preach in September of 1948 at the Alberta Baptist Church. He preached his first sermon in October of 1948 at Piney Woods Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa County and was ordained to preach in 1950. He served several churches in the state of Alabama and Tennessee. He served Flat Woods Baptist Church, New Hope Baptist Church, and Yellow Creek Baptist Church in the Tuscaloosa Baptist Association and retired in 2001 from the ministry
Bro. Davis finished Holt High School in 1941, Howard College (Samford University) in 1952, and the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1955.
Bro. Davis entered the military in November of 1942 at Craig Air Force Base in Selma, AL. Later he joined the 42nd Rainbow Division in Oklahoma. After taking training for the paratroopers at Fort Benning, he went overseas and entered France in the Rhineland Campaign and also into Germany. Bro. Davis was discharged from the military in January of 1946 from the 82nd Airborne Division.
Honorary pallbearers are Larry Black, Scot Black, Stephen Corlett, Steven Davis, Larry Davis, and Mike Davis.
