

Tuscaloosa – Jim Marvin Buford, Sr. 80, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Hospice of West Alabama. A native of Gordo, AL and longtime resident of Tuscaloosa, Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Marvin and Ruby Barbour Buford of Gordo. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Jewel Dean Peek Buford, daughters Debbie Buford-Burson, Ph.D. and Stephanie Diane Hardwick (L. H. “Mike”), son Jim Buford, Jr. (Kimberly), grandchildren Dr. Hannah Elizabeth Jean Burson, Rebecca Jewel Burson, Mallory Martha Jane Burson, Mary Elle Burson, Timothy Austin Donahue, Alexandria Dianne Donahue, Andrew Leonard Donahue, Michael Carson Hardwick, Abigail Buford Kane (Charles), and Chase Jake Buford. Surviving siblings include Paul Davis Buford (Cynthia), Diane Bridges (Bubba), Teresa Stripling (Barry). Prior to his golden years, Jim was a member of the Gordo Masonic Lodge, number 564, active member of Englewood Baptist Church, and later deacon at Taylorville Baptist Church. He worked at BF Goodrich and upon his retirement, spent his days golfing with his wife and friends at Woodland Forest Country Club. Although Jim lived a relatively private life, he rarely turned down a good game of dominos with fellow golfing mates and friends from BF Goodrich. The family will hold a private service at Memory Chapel Funeral Home, 2200 Skyland Blvd. East where he will be buried.
