A Graveside Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 24, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Memory Hill Gardens, officiated by Bro. Billy Joy. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Memory Chapel Funeral Home.
Michael was born on May 4, 1955 to Gladys and Worthy Shuttlesworth in Tuscaloosa. After graduating from Holt High School in 1973, he married his high school sweetheart, Sandie. He earned a degree as an Electrician from Brewer State Community College.
Upon graduating as an Electrician, he started work at Hodo Electric. From there he made his career at BF Goodrich where he was known as “Duck” and eventually retired.
Michael spent 49 years with his wonderful wife. Retirement gave him time to do the things he loved such as cooking, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Many may remember the time he spent coaching baseball and playing softball on the BF Goodrich team.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, James Worthy Shuttlesworth, Gladys Darnell; loving in-laws, C.K. and Louise Hobson; sister, Brenda Allen and special nephew, Denver Shuttlesworth.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Hobson Shuttlesworth; daughter, Michelle McMillan (Scott); son, Mike Shuttlesworth (Kristin); grandchildren, Haley Shuttlesworth, Garrett McMillan, Mallory McMillan, Kalea Hewitt and Rylan Shuttlesworth; great-granddaughter, Everly Jane Harrison and a nephew he considered his own, Scott Hobson (Linda); sisters, Peggy Adams (Paul) and Shirley Whitaker (Ronnie); brother, Randal Shuttlesworth. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
