James Massey

Funeral services will be held Saturday August 26, 2023 at 3:00 PM, with visitation 1 hour prior at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. Rev. Don Springer and Rev. Scott Garvin officiating.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents Mr. & Mrs. Clyde Massey, sister Maxine Shirley and brother Troy (Bo) Massey.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Carolyn Carr Massey; sons James L. Massey, Jr. (Judy), Johnny Massey (Lori), Jeff Massey (Sonja), Joey Massey (Mechelle); sister Reba Sellers (Troy), sister- in- law Sandra Massey; grandchildren, Jamie Hite (Jarod), Jeremy Massey (Sarah), Amanda Wilder (David), Heather Mayhall (Michael), Justin Massey, Jennifer Stewart (Tyler), Dax Massey (Kaci), Zane Massey (Hannah); great- grandchildren; Tori, Lane, Matthew, Cooper, Adaline, John David, Mason, Brady, Millie Brooke, Saylor, Braxton, Hailee and baby Massey (due October), and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Massey retired from the railroad with 40 years of service. He was a member of Grants Creek Baptist Church where he also served as a deacon. He and Carolyn spent many years traveling with their camping group Bama Sams.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jarod Hite, Jeremy Massey, David Wilder, Michael Mayhall, Justin Massey, Dax Massey, Zane Massey, Matthew Massey and Lane Hite.

Honorary pallbearers are members of Grants Creek Baptist Church, past employees of the railroad and Bama Sam’s camping club.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ross Vaughn and staff, Dr. Phil Hemstreet and staff and Dr. Mohammad Azam and staff for their many years of care. Hospice of West Alabama for the loving care provided, especially his caregivers Morgan and Kenny. In home caregiver Janice Junkin.
