James Ray “Pop” Bunn, age 67, of Cottondale, died Oct. 2, 2010, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Hunter and Rev. Jerry Koster officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Gethsemane at Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adron and Jane Bunn; his sisters, Marjean Nelson, Sara Nell Holman, Betty Porter, and Mary Elizabeth Scott; and his brother, Bobby Adron Bunn.
Survivors include his daughters, Belinda Ray, Tina, Charlotte, Dana, and Jessie; his son, James Buys; his sisters, Doris P. Hardy, Patsy Jacobs, Carolyn Junkin, and Linda Hammack; his brother, Michael Lewis Hunter; and 10 grandchildren.
Mr. Bunn was always a Boy Scout at heart. He would give the shirt off his back to all his friends and loved ones. His loved ones are deeply grieved at his leaving the earth, but he is with his Lord and Savior after rededicating his life.
Pallbearers will be Randy Wiggins, Rusty Heard, Donnie Simpson, Don Hammack, Jody Swindle, and Ronnie Hodo.
Honorary pallbearers are special daughter-in-law Cara Buys, employees and “the Boys” at the James Clyde Pate Specialty Home for U.S. Veterans, Arlee “Peanut” Johnson, Buddy Hawthorne, all the friends who knew and loved him, MICU 3rd Floor at DCH Regional Medical Center, Hospice of West Alabama, and special niece Judy Nelson Wiggins.
