

Herman Joseph Channell, age 90, passed away on May 13, 2023 at his home in Coker, Alabama. Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Masonic Gardens at Memory Hills Gardens, with Chaplain Don Sanders officiating. Masonic Rites to follow. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Memory Chapel Funeral Home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth Turner Channell, daughter, Sandra Joyce Channell, parents, John and Daisy Channell, three sisters and four brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Retha Smith Channell, daughter Sonya Channell- Keene (Willis) Gadsden, AL; sons, Joe Channell (Tiffany) Richmond, TX, Bobby Channell (Anneliese) Keystone Heights, FL; granddaughters; Destinie Channell, Keystone Heights, FL, Miranda Baker (Zachery), Humble, TX, Jennifer “Jenny” Benitez, Coker, AL, grandsons Bobby Channell (Shelly), Valdosta, GA, Jason Channell (Viola), Mike Channell, Keystone Heights, FL, Brennan Channell, Richmond, TX, 14 great grandchildren; sisters, Kathleen Boothe, Ann Kelly, Buhl, AL; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Channell was a retired machinist from the Central Foundry, a member of J. Collier Foster Masonic Lodge #906, and a member of Coker Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was a life-long resident of Tuscaloosa County. He enjoyed spending time riding the golf cart, working in his shop, and visiting with neighbors. Herman never met a stranger and loved to talk to everyone. His favorite phrase was, “God Bless You!”
