A visitation is scheduled for Sunday, April 10, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Memory Chapel Funeral Home, immediately followed by a funeral service at 4:00 PM from the Funeral Home Chapel.
Ginger was preceded in death by her father, Lige Elex Brasher, grandparents Flora Mae Shelby, JD Shelby, and Curtis Banks. She is survived by her children, Virginia Faith and Harrison Drake Townsend; mother Sandra Ann; grandmother Doris Banks; brothers: Tim, Steven and Sandy; sisters: Sissy and Tammy; Aunt Renae and a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ginger grew up in the west Alabama area; she had a large family and loved living in the beautiful countryside. Having a heart for animals she was especially fond of all of her pets, growing up. She worked hard to help her family around the house with chores and daily tasks. She was a 1992 graduate of Tuscaloosa County High, where she was crowned Miss Congeniality.
Ginger married in 1995, and moved to Fort Hood, TX, to support her husband during his military service. Her support and sacrifice of his service included almost five years of oversea deployments, during which time she had to care for her children alone. As an adult, Ginger worked in the insurance and banking industries. She loved trips to the gulf coast. Her children were the love of her life. Her daughter Virginia was born in 2000 and her son Harrison in 2003. Ginger dedicated her remaining time to their care and well being. She was a great mother, as she managed to deal with the special needs of her children as well as her own health issues with grace and courage. Ginger loved the Lord, her children and family very much. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Memory Chapel Funeral Home, in order to help cover Ms. Townsend's Funeral Expenses.
