Gail Morton

TUSCALOOSA – Toby Gail Phares Morton, age 80, died peacefully at her home with her children and grandchildren at her side on April 9, 2021. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Dockery officiating.

Mrs. Morton was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Ross Morton; father, Paul Phares; and mother, Leslie Williams Phares.

She is survived by her sister, June Shirley (Jerry); son, Jeffery Allen Morton; daughter, Teresa Ann Junkin (Barry); and grandchildren, Jessica Junkin (Josh Stewart), Austin Boyd, and Madison Junkin.

Gail Morton was a member of Alberta Baptist in her earlier years, but later moved to Cottondale Baptist Church. She was a 1958 graduate of Tuscaloosa High School, and a 1961 graduate of UAB in Radiology. Gail and Joe were married on September 6, 1963. They moved to South Carolina until 1975 where both Joe and Gail worked, lived, and started their family. After moving back to Tuscaloosa, Gail worked in retail sales until she retired in 2009. Gail lived her retirement years mostly with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her sister, June, walking in the mall with friends, spending time with her grandchildren, and going to church.
