Euradell attended the school that was pioneered by her grandfather for children of color, Long Plantation Elementary School. After graduating from Long Plantation, Euradell attended Paul Breaux High School in Lafayette, Louisiana. Euradell was determined to obtain a bachelor’s degree in nursing and graduated with honors. In the 1950s, segregated Louisiana did not offer bachelor’s degrees to black students; therefore, Euradell decided to attend the Historically Black College, Tuskegee Institute in Alabama. Euradell excelled in all her science classes and pledged Zeta Phi Beta, Sorority Incorporated. She also met and fell for the love her life, Chester Arthur Fredd, Jr.
After graduation, she worked as an emergency room nurse in Lafayette, LA.
Euradell married Chester in 1959 in Broussard, Louisiana, and from this union four children were born. She served as a medical surgical nurse in Veteran’s Administration Hospitals. They lived in Birmingham and in December of 1962, Euradell and Chester moved to Buffalo, New York. In 1965, they returned to Alabama, where she worked as a nursing instructor, which evolved into the head of the nursing department.
She desired to continue her education and obtained her master’s degree in nursing at The University of Alabama. She continued to teach in the nursing department for 35 years and became head of the nursing department at Shelton State Community College.
She celebrated being a mom, wife and hosting family and friends. Euradell especially enjoyed road trips to see family, decorating for the holidays and entertaining her fellow Greek alums with her husband. She especially took pride in the language and culture of her French Creole heritage. The Fredd household was a prime destination for family and friends. With her hosting and cooking abilities, Euradell made it inviting for all to visit.
In her latter years after retirement, she loved attending her Links meetings, raising her dogs, Chuckie, Chum, and Chad and delighted listening to Zydeco music on Lafayette’s KRVS radio hosted every Saturday morning by her brother John Broussard. After a long convalescent period, Euradell departed this life on February 3, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Matilda Broussard, her siblings Earl Broussard and Madeline Vallier. Euradell will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
