Emory Yelverton Rhyne, age 83, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama passed away on May 4, 2024 at Floyd E. “Tut” Fann Veteran’s Home, Huntsville, Alabama. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 11 AM at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Justin Olvey officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Emory was preceded in death by his father, Robert Henry Rhyne,Sr.; mother, Eunie Yelverton Rhyne; three brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Rhyne; daughter, Monica Rhyne; son, Robert Rhyne (Shannon); grandchildren, Whitney Smith (Steven), Jared Rhyne (LeeAnna) and Allison Holland (Drew); great grandchildren, Robert Thomas “RT” and Emery Rhyne, Drew and Charlie Smith; a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Rhyne was born in Selma and raised in Hale County. He attended the University of Alabama and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1962. Mr. Rhyne worked for 24 years at BF Goodrich in multiple supervisory roles in the tire room. He was quick to help those in need and enjoyed working on cars and time with the grandkids and extended family. He also enjoyed trips to the beach and mountains. He spent the last three years at the Floyd E. “Tut” Fann Veteran’s Home in Huntsville following a stroke in December 2020. We are rejoicing that Emory is reunited with the One he was created to know and gets to worship Him in his new, healed, and redeemed body.
Pallbearers will be Jared Rhyne, Steven Smith, Jace Olvey, Kevin Lancaster and Alan Tingle.
