She was born in Tuscaloosa, AL May 8, 1926. She graduated from Tuscaloosa High School. "Snooks" married Ward May 26, 1946 and became a country girl. She was known as "Snooks", mama, and meme by many of friends and family. She worked at Druid City Hospital Credit Union as a manager and later at Clara Verner Tower. She was an active member of Gilgal Baptist Church and some of her true services were Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU), Girls in Action (GA) and the choir.
She was a special lady to her family, friends, and customers. Many people have made statements that she was the first face they saw in the choir at Gilgal. People could tell her smile was genuine, which was filled with warmth and love for the Lord as well as people including family, friends, people in need, and people she just met. Heaven received a servant who will truly be missed by the ones left here on earth.
"Snooks" was a great keeper of secrets which led many to confide in her with needs and concerns so she was able to guide people to the Lord and to make better decisions. She found happiness in people. Her sweet kind spirit drew people to her. She had the gift of hospitality and everyone who had the opportunity to meet her experienced this first hand. She and Ward diligently prayed for so many people during their lives, which included family, neighbors, people she knew through her various jobs, and missionaries by name. She continued this practice until the end of her life. We are thankful for the foundation of faith that they laid down for our family. She left her family and friends with plenty of wonderful memories and recipes for foods and service.
