Ms. Hall was born in Brownville, AL in 1935. She graduated from Montgomery High School and worked at Bryce Hospital prior to marrying E. Earl Whitworth in 1960 and moving to Chattanooga, TN. They had one daughter, Melanie Whitworth in 1962. Edna and her family returned to Tuscaloosa in 1966 and she worked for many years at Partlow. Edna was a librarian assistant in the school library and then an administrative assistant. She was widowed in 1976. She married Arthur Hall in 1990 and retired from Partlow in 1992. She was widowed again in 2005, after which she relocated to Milton Georgia in 2006 to be nearer to her daughter.
Ms. Hall was an avid gardener and a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed reading, crafts and spending time with her family. She was raised in a Freewill Baptist Church and remained a devoted Christian throughout her life.
Edna possessed a strong and independent spirit that shaped the lives of those around her. She fearlessly charted her own path, inspiring her daughter, Melanie, to be bold and resolute in pursuing her dreams. Edna's love for Melanie knew no boundaries, and she passionately supported her daughter's endeavors with unwavering encouragement and belief.
Edna was equally devoted to her granddaughters, Hannah and Camille. Her independent spirit and passionate nature were evident in the way she embraced their uniqueness, nurtured their dreams, and celebrated their achievements. She modeled strength and independence for them and encouraged them, with both determination and love, to pursue their passions.
Edna's strong and independent personality extended to her role as a great-grandmother to Eva Marie Ammons. She cherished every opportunity to lavish Eva with affection. Her brief presence in Eva's life created a lasting bond.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, June 28 at 2 pm at Memory Hill Gardens. Flowers are appreciated or donations in her honor can be made to the charity of your choice.
