Thomas Edward Hendrix, age 73, of Centreville, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, April 17th, 2024 at DCH Regional Medical Center. A Celebration of Life will be held at Memory Chapel Funeral Home on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Ada's Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, April 19 2024 at Memory Chapel Funeral Home from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM.
Eddie was born on December 25, 1950 in Birmingham, Alabama to Robert Edward Hendrix and Willie Mae Hendrix. He graduated from West Blocton High School in 1968. After graduation, he worked for U.S. Steel. Later, he was employed at Burgess mining. In the early 80’s he and his brother, Larry, became partners in SL&E Auto Parts in Birmingham. Years later, they moved the business to its current location in West Blocton. He has been an importer and exporter of automotive parts for over 40 years. He also was the owner of a scrapping and salvage business.
He was passionate about his business and people. He was a dedicated businessman with a huge heart who rarely took a day off. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling both domestically and internationally and going deep sea fishing. He was happiest lying on a beach somewhere, being captain of his boat, and spending time with family and friends. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, father and grandfather.
Survivors include the love of his life, Guadalupe Martinez; his brother, Larry Hendrix (Marcia); nieces, Amy Hendrix Freeman (Michael), Alicia Hendrix Freeman (Nathan); daughters, Michelle Mason Williamson (Clay), Beatriz Jimenez Martinez (Alex), Maria Jimenez Martinez; granddaughters, Malina Grace Williamson, Alexa McCall Williamson and Kimberly Alexa Magaña and countless other great nieces, nephews, family members and close friends..
He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Edward Hendrix; mother, Willie Mae Hendrix; brother, David Hendrix.
Pallbearers are Alejandro Magaña, Ruben Andres,Ramon Zamudio, Mauricio Rosales, Martin Ramos, Carl Poore, Jr. and Jeffery Gill.
