Donald Christopher Schryer

DUNCANVILLE - Donald Christopher ""Chris"" Schryer, age 59, of Duncanville, Ala., died January 2, 2018 in Duncanville, Ala. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018, at East McFarland Baptist Church with Chad Palmer officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be 12:30-2 p.m. at the church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel J. Schryer and brother, Daniel L. Schryer.

Survivors include his wife, Terri Hunt Schryer; daughter, Devan S. Acker (Christopher L. Acker); son, Matthew C. Schryer; brother, Dean Kip Schryer (Tammy W. Schryer); sister-in-law's, Sherry A. Wyatt and Karen Schryer; and mother, Dorothy Nell Schryer.

Donald Christopher Schryer who was known to most as Chris Schryer was born on April 2, 1958. Chris had two brothers, Danny and Kip, whom he loved very much. The three brothers spent much time together –camping, playing softball, playing cards, riding their Harleys; fishing and hunting. Chris was deeply saddened when he lost his older brother, Danny, in September 2017. Chris adored his parents, Dan and Nell Schryer. The death of his dad in May 1999 hit him hard. He loved his mother's home-made pizza!

Chris married Terri L. Hunt on May 9, 1986 and together they were blessed with a son, Matt and a daughter, Devan. Chris' greatest joys were the births of Matt and Devan. Chris loved Terri and his kids very much and enjoyed spending time with them! Chris spent quality and quantity time with Matt and Devan by taking them hunting and fishing. He showed them how to appreciate nature and wildlife.

Chris and Terri enjoyed many things as a couple, traveling, going to movies, fishing, riding their Harley, camping; yard work; attending concerts and hosting parties for the youth at East McFarland Baptist Church. Chris also loved his pets. His favorite pets were his two Maltese dogs, Luci and Laci. Luci and Laci adored Chris, known to them as Papa, and were his bona fide lap dogs!

Chris retired from Alabama Power Company with over 36 years of service. He loved his co-workers so much!

Chris was a man of honor and pride. He always told us the following: "if you commit to doing something, please do it the correct way or don't do it at all".

Chris touched so many lives and was loved by so many! He will be missed by all!

Pallbearers will be Matthew C. Schryer, Christopher L. Acker, Dean Kip Schryer, William Edwards, Brent Meadows, Tim Oliver, Dereck Wyatt, Austin Schryer and Mark Schryer.
