

VANCE - Diane Caffee, age 61, of Vance, Ala., died Wednesday morning, April 25, 2018, in the care of Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2018, at Forest Lake United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Vance Cemetery with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be 5 – 7 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home on Skyland Blvd. Diane would like to welcome any and all to gather for food and fellowship at her home in Vance following the burial service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Liz Caffee; and nephew, Jason Broughton.
Survivors include her sisters, Carol Caffee and Susan Caffee; son, Jeremy Lynn Pruett (Stephanie Claire Pruett) and his children, Madison Rebecca Pruett, Houstyn Bailey Pruett and Jacob Landon Pruett; daughter, Deanna Elizabeth Scott (Rex Adam Scott) and her children, Tristan Brent Hamilton and Paisley Elizabeth Scott.
Diane's home has been in Vance, Ala. where she has lived since 1971. She attended Brookwood High School where she was a member of the marching band, as well as the high school mascot. She graduated in 1974. She attended the University of North Alabama where she studied art, drama and music. Diane enjoyed singing as a little girl at Vance Baptist Church with her grandparents, Mama Dean and Big Daddy. She continued her love of singing throughout her life. She sang in Sweet Adelines with her sister, Susan. Diane also would sing the national anthem for Vance Ballpark where she was a Dixie Youth board member, officer and coached both of her children. Diane sang a special rendition of "Lord Let's Build Us a Mercedes Benz" at the grand opening ceremonies for the Mercedes Benz manufacturing plant built in Vance, Alabama in 1997.
Diane was current member of Forest Lake United Methodist Church where she attended with her father, Bill Caffee and his wife, Ethel. She was also a prior member at Brookwood Methodist, Vance Baptist and Evergreen Baptist throughout her life.
Diane lived "larger than life" as a mother, provider, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend. Her family always came first whether through baseball, softball, homework, hard times or family beach trips. Diane loved her children and grandchildren. She had the spirit of an artist.
Diane will always be remembered by her large and contagious smile, her beautiful voice and her over-the-top personality.
Pallbearers will be Howard Hayes, Rex Scott, Kevin Bohannon, Brett Smith, Tyler Bosch, Brandon Dunn and David Dailey.
Honorary pallbearers are Houstyn Pruett, Tristan Hamilton, Jacob Pruett, Owen Broughton, Galen Howlett and Hospice of West Alabama.
