Derrell Lee O’Briant, 69, of Tuscaloosa, passed away on April 12, 2021, at Regency Hospital in Meridian, MS. Visitation will be Thursday, April 15, 2021 from 6-8pm at Memory Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Friday, April 16, 2021, from the Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Jim Headley officiating. Graveside Interment services will immediately follow from Memory Hill Gardens, Garden of Prayer, under the direction of Memory Chapel, a Dignity provider.
Mr. O’Briant was born November 20, 1951, in Columbus, MS, to Elloise O’Briant and the late Walter Lee O’Briant. He graduated from Pickens County High School in 1970, and the University of West Alabama at Livingston in 1974 with a degree in business. On September 27, 1981, he married the love of his life Terri (Crawford). He enjoyed a long and flourishing career as a banker, having worked for several banks in the Tuscaloosa area. Derrell was a loving family man, a devoted husband, father and proud “Papa” to his grandchildren. He cared deeply for his family and was a wonderful provider. He enjoyed spending time with his family at their cabin on the river, he was humble and carried with him a quiet confidence. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid outdoorsman. He was always supportive and present, enjoying the hobbies and activities of his entire family. He was especially fond of his loyal companion, his Dog “Sam”. A Baptist by faith, he was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and was active in church ministries, for as long as his health permitted. He will truly be missed by those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Lee O’Briant.
Mr. O’ Briant is survived by his wife Terri O’Briant of Tuscaloosa, son Drew (Brooke) O’Briant of Northport, daughter Jennifer (Jason) McCrory of Moundville, mother Elloise O’Briant, his beloved grandchildren: Hayden, Max, Macy Kate, Chandler, Ethan and Collin; and sister Glenda (Butch) Pate of Reform.
Active Pallbearers will be Terry Adams, Shayne Pate, Garrett Crawford, Kris Hollingsworth, Brent McMillan and Billy Marty. Honorary Pallbearers will be Friends and Customers of the bank.
Memorial Contributions, in Derrell’s honor, may be made to the American Cancer Society or Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
