On Sunday, January 3, 2021, Curtis Darnell Jr, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at the age of 81. Curt, as he was known to his friends and family, was born on in Braggedocia, Missouri, to Curtis and Lula Mae. He met the love of his life, Rubenia, at the age of 12, and they were married on August 29, 1957. They enjoyed travelling the world together hand in hand and spending as much time as they could with their family. They raised two daughters together, Connie and Dottie. Whenever he wasn't on a trip somewhere, you could usually find Curt sitting at his house working on a puzzle or carving his next masterpiece, but playing with and swinging his great-grandkids was his favorite pasttime. He was adored by his grandchildren, of whom he was so proud. A man that could fix anything, he will be sorely missed by so many.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and brothers Danny and Joe. He is survived by his soul mate and wife Rubenia, his two daughters Dottie Dockery (Ricky) and Connie Cooley (Denny), his grandchildren Curtis Clements, Patrick Dockery (Demi), Crista Smith (Clay), and Dustin Dockery, and the lights of his life, his great-grandchildren Anna Carson, Ellie, and Tucker. He is also survived by three sisters, Alice Cobb, Mary Cannon (Glen), and Doris Pearson, and special sisters-in-law Betty and Bobbie White and a host of neices and nephews.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, special friends David Pate and Lumpy Turner.
Honarary Pallbears include UMWA Local 2397, David Pate (Jouce), Larry Turner (Margaret) and Robert Lowe (Joyce).
A graveside service will be Wednesday, January 6, at Memory Chapel at 3:00.
