Curtis G. Colburn was born March 23, 1951 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He graduated from Holt High School. Shortly after he became a Medic in the US Navy, where he served for two years, he was married to his loving wife, Judy Colburn, and had two children, Mike Colburn and Amanda C. Lytle. He retired from the US Postal Service after 35 years of faithful employment. So many of the residents he delivered mail to loved and cared for him. He always brought a smile to their faces. Curtis was an active and devoted member of Northport Baptist Church. He was a youth Sunday School teacher, AWANA leader, Upward Basketball coach, Trailblazer member and President. If there was a need in the church, he would do everything he could to fill that need. He also loved volunteering and helping at Baseball Country. Serving and helping there brought him so much joy and happiness. In his free time he loved playing golf at Ol’ Colony Golf, and watching Alabama Football. When he wasn’t serving the church, playing golf or watching football, you could find him reading a book and studying the Bible. He also loved spending time with his five grandchildren, Jakob (18), Olivia (11), Hannah (8), Harper (6) and Lillian (6). He was a loving Grandfather and his grandchildren thought the world of him. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. He leaves behind a great legacy and will never be forgotten. “To know him, was to love him.”
