Clarence O. "C.O." Fowler, age 74, of Montgomery, died Dec. 24, 2010. Services will be 11 a.m. today at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Brannon Pinion officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Hettie Fowler; three brothers and three sisters; the mother of his children, Elizabeth Fowler; his son, Charles D. Fowler; and his grandson, Trae Skelton.
Survivors include his children, Darlene Carlisle (David) of Montgomery, Sharlene Fowler of Montgomery, Karen Harris of Tuscaloosa, Marlene Carrier (Johnny) of Coker, Cindy Beams (Brian) of Akron, Charles Childress (Sandi) of Calera, and Brandy Lipscomb (Will) of Denver, Colo.; his grandchildren, Chad Fowler, Andrew Fowler, BJ Fowler, Cade Fowler, Matthew Carlisle, Alana Carlisle, Brooke Payne, Theresa Smith, Johnathon Carrier, and Bradley Beams; and six great-grandchildren.
C.O. worked in construction for most of his life. He settled in Gulfport, Mississippi when he retired after working on the Beau Rivage Casino. C.O. served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was an active Shriner at the Joppa Temple in Gulfport, Miss.
Pallbearers will be Charles Childress, David Carlisle, Matthew Carlisle, Johnny Carrier, Johnathon Carrier, Brian Beams, Bradley Beams, and Todd Payne.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Shriners Hospital.
