Mrs. Price was preceded in death by her parents, Lenora Hyche Earnest and Ed Wilson Earnest; son, Jason Wilson Price; sister, Mona Lisa Valles (Ismael); and brother, Edward Earl Earnest.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn A. Price; son, Jimmy Allen Price (Merry); sisters, Vicki Thomason (Richard) and Beverly Etheridge (Rodney); brothers, Jan G. Earnest (Eleanor) and William Grover Earnest (Judi); and grandchildren, Evan Price, Stormy Williamson, and Jason Price.
Cathy had a steadfast faith in God and was a believer in prayer. She said, "I will pray for anybody!" And she did, anywhere, any time! She was a soldier in the Salvation Army and read the scripture in every service. She was active in the Rivers Prison Ministry and baked peanut butter cookies by the dozens for them. She loved gospel music, especially Ernie Haase, and she attended his concerts with her brother and sister-in-law.
Cathy and Glenn were married 48 years and she lovingly cared for him. She loved her two sons and daughter-in-law. Her grandchildren were her joy. Cathy loved her brothers and sisters very much and enjoyed times spent with them and their families. Cathy has many nieces and nephews who thought she hung the moon.
Cathy was a wonderful neighbor and her neighbors will miss her very much. Several have remarked that Cathy was their best friend. One neighbor said, "She is the light in our lives!"
As we think of words to describe this amazing woman, these are a few...
Sweet, strong, thoughtful, caring, generous, funny, witty, kind, competitive, and always putting others first. Cathy was loved by all who knew her.
She was a collector of angels and crosses and their home teemed with them. She enjoyed Diet Mountain Dew and played many, many games of rummy with her sisters. Elvis was Cathy's heartthrob when she was younger and perhaps that never changed? Cathy loved Alabama football and she coached the team from her chair in the living room; she gets credit for all the wins.
Cathy fought gallantly against her illness for almost a year. Her family wants to thank her prayer warriors for their constant care, concern, and prayers. We admire her strength and fortitude during this time. She's our hero.
Honorary pallbearers are the members of Salvation Army Church, 27th Street neighbors, Dr. Pam Hughes, the staff of Lewis and Faye Manderson Cancer Center, John Coley, nurses and staff of Hospice of West Alabama, Tyrone and Tracy Rivers, Rosalie and all Glenn’s cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army of Tuscaloosa, Ala.
