Carolyn Avery Harris

Carolyn Avery Harris, 81, passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at Hospice of West Alabama. A Graveside Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021 at 11:00AM from Memory Hill Gardens, Garden of Devotion. Daniel Kelly will officiate, services will be under the direction of Memory Chapel, a Dignity Memorial provider.

Ms. Harris was born September 09, 1940 to the late Arlie and Ruby Pugh Avery. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother (“Maw Maw” as she was affectionately called). Most importantly Ms. Harris was a Christian, and she loved her God with all of her heart.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Calvin Harris; son in law Alan Elam and brother in law J.H. Brewer. She is survived by two daughters JoDel Elam and Sharon Baier (Chip); grandchildren: Crystal Rhodes (Ben), Daniel Kelly (Nia), Nicole Elam, Tori Wyatt and Ty Wyatt (Jasmine); great grandchildren: Jackson Rhodes, Jacob Rhodes, Jordan Rhodes, Nehemiah Williams, Mahogany Williams, Samantha Kelly, Josiah Kelly, Jonathan Kelly, Kenley Allen, Liam Wyatt and Heidi Wyatt; sisters Donna Adams (Gerald) and Arlene Brewer; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family wishes to extend their most sincere thanks to the Staff of the Bibb County Nursing Home for the love and care that was shown to their mother.
