Carl “Kay” Edwin Taylor, 88, of Fayette, Alabama was called home on May 21, 2024 at his home in Taylorville, Alabama. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Clay Mosley officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Kay was born on June 18, 1935 in Fayette, Alabama. He was a retired Civil Engineer for the Highway Department for the state of Alabama after serving in the United States military. As a big fan of all things Alabama Crimson Tide, Kay often spoke about good memories made cheering on Wimp Sanderson’s successes while the head coach of the Crimson Tide’s men’s basketball team. He loved to travel and spend time with his family and friends. Kay and his wife, Mary, were proud platinum members with Carnival Cruise Line having been on over 55 cruises over the years. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchild so much and was so proud to be their PawPaw.
Kay is preceded in death by Simon Taylor (uncle), Elsie Taylor (mother), Carl Young Taylor (father), Cecil Taylor (brother), George Taylor (brother), Bessie Taylor McGehee (sister), Cleliah Taylor Stoker (sister), Mary Agnus Taylor Price (sister), and Hudson Carl Taylor (grandson).
Kay is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Taylor, his children Tim Taylor (Shari) and Kim Wilkerson, his grandchildren Courtney Williams (Skyler), Emily-Kate Taylor, Taylor Ramer (Zack), Mary-Harbin Taylor, and Wilson Taylor, his great grandson Zeppelin Ramer, and his special nieces Linda James and Leona Stovall.
Pallbearers will be Keith Cannon, Luke Lawrence, Russell Lawrence, Zach Ramer, Wilson Taylor, and Skyler Williams.
Honorary pallbearers will be the congregation at Taylorville Baptist Church and the State of Alabama Highway Department.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
