Butch Balentine, age 67, of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Tuscaloosa, Al on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 2:30PM with Mr. Tim May officiating, with visitation held from 1:30 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. prior to service. There will also be a celebration of life service at Akin’s Funeral Home in Russellville, Al on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 12:00 P.M.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Nancy Jo Balentine and his sister, Shelia Ligon. Survivors include his son, Brandon (Ashley) Balentine; grandson, Brantley Balentine; brother, Danny Balentine (Joyce); nieces, Jasmine Murphy, Paige Dodson (Michael) and Madison Milam (Gatlin) and others.
Butch was born in Russellville, Al in 1954. He moved to Tuscaloosa at a young age and worked for Sears locally and in Tennessee for over 30 years. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend. He enjoyed fishing, Alabama football, grilling out and spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Brantley. Brantley was his pride and joy. He had a great sense of humor and always made others laugh. Butch was loved by everyone that knew him. He will be greatly missed and we will always have a void in our hearts without him.
Pallbearers will be Justin Wright, Jason Wright, Brian Calhoun, Michael Dodson, Gatlin Milam and Robbie Simpson. Honorary pallbearers are former coworkers of Sears, nurses and staff of DCH MICU and Dr. Doughtery and special caregivers Wanda Hamilton, Russell West, Shelley Wellington and neighbors, Jack and Emma Johnson.
