Barbara Ann Heritage Christopher, age 80, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024 at Harper Center. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Herb Thomas officiating. A Family Visitation will be held at 9:30 AM.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, James William Christopher (5/5/2017); sister, Caroline Sue Heritage Martin (12/17/2023).
She is survived by her son, William David Christopher and his wife Stephanie Malone Christopher of Alexandria, LA; grandchildren, Karen Renee Christopher Carter and her husband Derek Joseph Cater; great granddaughter, Emery Hope Carter and a soon to be great grandson in Alexandria, LA.
Barbara was a loving and devoted wife and stay at home mother who always put her family first. She was known by all to be an extraordinary cook and baker. She was known for her authentic Chinese cooking and her coconut cream pies. She also discovered and developed her artistic skills in tole painting and sold many pieces of art in the local arts and crafts shows. In later years, Barbara and her husband worked together to supply many high quality drapes, curtains, custom pillows, headboards, and other pieces to interior decorators in town. She was a very skilled seamstress and her work was highly sought after by many in the community. Barbara always loved Alabama Football (Roll Tide) and was an avid lover of animals in general, but she especially loved her dogs.
Honorary Pallbearers are the Staff at Regency Retirement Village Tuscaloosa and the Staff at Mary Starke Harper Center.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate to ASPCA, the Humane Society or any animal Shelter or rescue center of your choice. Mom would have wanted it this way!
