TUSCALOOSA - Dr. Ann Marie Palk, age 87, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., passed away April 13, 2018 in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Graveside services will be 12 noon Monday, April 16, 2018, at Memory Hill Gardens with Michael Palk officiating and Kyle Wyley providing the music. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the Memory Chapel Funeral Home.
Survivors include her daughters, Beth Ann Yarbrough (Steve) of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Lisa Marie Pretzello (Drew) of Montgomery Village, Md. and Pamela Lynn Schaller (David) of Los Angeles, Calif.; grandchildren, Ashley Werchanowskyj (Greg), Scott Yarbrough (Cheryl), Andrew Pretzello (Natalie), Alysha Pretzello (Jordan), Maximilian Schaller and Madeleine Schaller; and great-grandchildren, Bayley Yarbrough, Lily Kate Werchanowskyj, William Werchanowskyj, Addison Yarbrough and Amelia Talley.
Pallbearers will be Steve Yarbrough, Drew Pretzello, David Schaller, Scott Yarbrough, Greg Werchanowskyj, Andrew Pretzello, Jordan Talley, and David Palk.
Ann was born on December 25, 1930 in Norene, Tenn. She focused her entire life on her two passions, her family and teaching. After college, she began teaching in a school where she met the love of her life, Bobby Palk, and together they lovingly raised three daughters. She taught at Westwood Elementary School in Coker, Ala., and then moved into positions with the Tuscaloosa County Department of Education, and then the Alabama State Department of Education, providing support, training and innovation to teachers across the entire state. She was also instrumental in co-authoring the first creative writing assessment ever developed for the state. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and an inspiring teacher to everyone who crossed her path.
