Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and loved being with her family. She is survived by her sons Arcenio K. Mello, António Mello, and Eduard Mello (Julie); her sister Filomena Chaves Fernandes; her grandchildren Desiree Abbott (Randy), Tiffany Mello (Amelia), Nicole Mello (Jake), Amanda Linares (Raul), Joey Mello, Nicholas Mello (Kiana), Joshua Mello, Madelyn Mello, Tommy Tusing, Jessica Brewer; her six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband Alberto de Chaves Mello; her daughter Gilda Chaves Mello; her sons Joe Mello and David Mello; her father Joaquin de Chaves Melo; her mother Filomena Maria Almada Melo; and her brothers Angelo Chaves, António Chaves, José Chaves, and Manuel Chaves.
Mary was a devoted parishioner of Immaculate Conception Mission Church in Buhach, California, where she found great comfort and strength in her faith.
A visitation for Mary will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Whitehurst-Norton-Dias Funeral Service, 286 West Main, Turlock, CA 95380-4814.
Recitation of the Rosary and funeral mass will occur on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 9:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Mission Church, 2988 N Buhach Rd, Atwater, CA 95301.
A committal service will follow at Winton Cemetery District, 7651 Almond Ave, Winton, CA 95388.
Serving as pallbearers are Nicholas Mello, Joey Mello, Walter Fernandes, Danny Fernandes, Joshua Mello, and Paul Pereira.
Mary will always be remembered for her unwavering love for her family and her gentle, caring spirit. She has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her. May her memory be a blessing to all who loved her.
