Maria Fernanda Silva, age 79, of Hilmar, California, passed away at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto, California on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. Maria was born in Pedro Miguel, Faial, Acores to Henrique da Rosa and Maria dos Anjos Silva.
Maria is survived by her children: Maria Manuela Lemos, Angelo Alberto Silva (Samantha), George Vieira Silva, and Suzanne Silva Vargas (Eduardo). Maria also leaves behind her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, brothers, extended family and friends, to honor her memory.
Maria had been a long-time community member of Hilmar, California where many years ago, she raised her children on a dairy farm, played the mandolin in various groups for Carnival, played the organ and sang in the choir at the Hilmar Rosary Catholic Church.
A Visitation for Maria will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Whitehurst-Norton-Dias Funeral Service, 286 West Main, Turlock, CA 95380.
Recitation of the Rosary and Funeral Mass will occur Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 8471 Cypress Street, Hilmar, CA 95324.
A committal service will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Turlock Memorial Park, 575 North Soderquist Road, Turlock, CA 95380.
Serving as pallbearers are Eduardo Vargas Jr., Francisco Vargas, Chris Pereira, Gilbert Rosa, Eduino Correia and Michael Vargas.
