Maria is survived by her grandson Carlos Diniz of Hilmar, goddaughter Valeria Mier of Turlock, and son-in-law Joe Dinis (Nair) of Hilmar.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter Fatima Dinis, and by her parents Pedro Melo and Maria Borges.
Maria was a dedicated parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hilmar, California. She was also a member of I.D.E.S., P.F.S.A., Hilmar Y.L.I., and the Queen St. Isabel Portuguese festa of Hilmar as well as St. Anthony Portuguese festa.
A visitation for Maria Fatima Melo will be held from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Whitehurst-Norton-Dias Funeral Service: 286 W. Main Street, Turlock, California.
A recitation of the rosary followed by a funeral mass will occur at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church: 8471 Cypress Street, Hilmar, California. She will be laid to rest after the services at N. Hilmar Cemetery District: 8710 N. Tegner Road, Hilmar, California.
Serving as pallbearers are Cidalia Santos, João Gonçalves Santos, João Alexandro Santos, Hugo Miguel Santos, John Mier, Joe Silva and Michael Ormonde.
