Maria Jesus Gomes, age 94, of Turlock, California passed away peacefully at her daughters home, on Friday, October 20, 2023. Maria was born in Pedro Miguel, Faial, Açores to Rosa de Jesus and António F. da Silva.
Maria is survived by her daughter Maria Analia Sousa, her son-in-law Joe and her sister-in-law Maria Silva all of Turlock. Maria also leaves behind her grandchildren Nicholas Sousa (Taylor), Lisa Russell (Dale) along with her great grandchildren Emma Russell, Reagan Russell, Trey Russell, Logan Russell and Nico Sousa to honor her memory. Maria is also survived by many nieces, nephews and Godchildren.
Maria was preceded in death by her husband José da Terra Gomes, her parents António F. and Rosa de Jesus da Silva along with her siblings Leontina Sousa, Adao da Silva, Gil F. da Silva, António F. da Silva and Eduina Nunes.
Maria was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Our Lady of Fatima of Turlock, C.P.I.D.E.S of Hilmar and P.F.S.A. of Hilmar.
A Visitation for Maria will be held Monday, October 30, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Whitehurst-Norton-Dias Funeral Service, 286 West Main, Turlock, CA 95380.
A Recitation of the Rosary will occur Monday, October 30, 2023 at 7:00 PM, 286 West Main, Turlock, CA 95380.
A Funeral Mass will occur Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church- Lyons Ave., 1200 Lyons Avenue, Turlock, CA 95380.
A Committal Service will occur Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Turlock Memorial Park, 575 North Soderquist Road, Turlock, CA 95380.
Serving as pallbearers are Nicholas Sousa, Dale Russell, Emma Russell , Joe Silva, Manuel Andre and Carlos Faria.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Reagan Russell, Trey Russell, Logan Russell, and Nico Sousa.
