Maria was born in Faja dos Vimes, São Jorge, Açores, the daughter of Ludovina Nunes and João Luís. She was a woman full of love and devotion to her family and friends, and her passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Mario Silveira Flores, with whom she shared 59 years of love and companionship. Mario was not only her loving husband but also her best friend, her greatest support, and her source of joy throughout the years. She is also survived by her sister, Filomena Luís Brasil (Manuel), of Modesto, California, along with many nieces, nephews, godchildren, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.
Maria was preceded in death by her parents, João Machado Luís and Ludovina Nunes Luís, and her siblings: Antonio Machado Luís, Manuel Olgário Luís, Maria Nunes Luís, Alvarino Luís, José Machado Luís, Beatrice Luís Flores, Luciano Luís and a sister who died in childhood, Filomena Luis.
She was a dedicated member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Modesto, California, where she was known and loved for her kindness and generosity.
A visitation for Maria will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Lakewood Funeral Home, 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, CA 95326.
A recitation of the rosary will take place on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 7:00 PM at the same address: 900 Santa Fe Avenue, Hughson, CA 95326.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, 1813 Oakdale Rd, Modesto, CA 95355.
A committal service will follow on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, CA 95326.

A Sra. Flores deixa de luto o seu marido, com quem foi casada por 59 anos, Mário Silveira Flores, e a sua irmã Filomena Luís Brasil (Manuel) de Modesto, Califórnia. Deixa também muitos sobrinhos, sobrinhas, afilhados, cunhados e cunhadas.
Foi precedida na morte por os seus pais João Machado Luís e Ludovina Nunes Luís; os seus irmãos António Machado Luís, Manuel Olgário Luís, Maria Nunes Luís, Alvarino Luís, José Machado Luís, Beatriz Luís Flores, Luciano Luís e uma irmã que morreu ainda criança, Filomena Luís.
