Manuel Jorge Silveira

Mr. Manuel Jorge Silveira passed away peacefully at home Sunday, April 10, 2016. He was comforted by his lovely family. Manuel was 86 years old and was born in Cedros, Faial, Azores to Francisco and Serafina Silveira. Manuel came to the US in June of 1959 and worked as a dairyman for 20 years. In September of 2014, he lost the love of his life, his wife Ilda.

Mr. Silveira is survived by his Daughters- Mary Lou Hernandez and husband Armando of Modesto, and Fernanda Silveira of Modesto. 5 Grandchildren- Martha Brazil and husband Albert of Los Banos, Michael Pontes and his wife Carrie of Sacramento, Annabelle Leonardo and husband Sergio of Manteca, Charlene Silva and husband Eugenio of Turlock, Loren Pontes and wife Melissa of Modesto. 8 Great Grandchildren- Julien, Gabriela, Amalia , Cianna, Lucas, Luke, Wyatt, and Claudia. 2 Brothers- Daniel Silveira of San Jose and Frank Silveira of Turlock.

Manuel Jorge Silveira was a devoted parishioner of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church of Hughson, was President of F.E.S. of Oakdale in 1974, he also was one of the oldest members of Stevinson SPA who helped establish the Bullfight Arena. He loved to participate in card parties, attend bullfights, cow auctions and go fishing.

Manuel is preceded in Death by his wife Ilda Gloria Silveira, September 20, 2014, 6 brothers and sisters.

Services: Visitation-2:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, April 18, 2016 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Service, with a Vigil & Rosary at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass- 10:00 AM, Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 7820 Fox Rd., Hughson, California.

Mr. Silveira will be laid to repose at Turlock Memorial Park, 575 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock.
