Fred was born on May 25, 1933, to Fred Sr. & Helen Quinn in Bakersfield, Ca. He graduated from Poly Technical High School in San Francisco California.
Fred served in the Korean War, where he drove troops and supplies to and from the front lines. When the war was over, he went on to study and play baseball at City College of San Francisco and San Francisco State University.
After Fred graduated, he taught in multiple locations before settling down at Woodrow Wilson High School in San Francisco. He taught and coached there for over 30 years and it's where he won his first High School Soccer Championship as Head Coach in 1989.
When Woodrow Wilson HS was shut down in 1994, he continued his career at George Washington High School, also in San Francisco as a devoted teacher and dedicated coach where he earned 2 more San Francisco High School Soccer Championships as head coach in 1995 & 1996.
After retiring from teaching in 1996, from Washington High School, Fred continued to stay busy coaching and in 2003 coached Abraham Lincoln High School from San Francisco to its only Soccer Championship in its history. When he retired from coaching, he served as intern athletic commissioner for the CIF San Francisco Section. After this he continued to be an active consultant and substitute in different roles within SFUSD until 2013 when he became a full-time grandparent.
Fred has received numerous honors including Teacher of the Year, CIF Coach of the Year and was inducted into the San Francisco Prep Hall of Fame for his service to the youth of San Francisco, throughout his career.
He was also known for being an avid photographer, who donated his time and resources to document many events within the San Francisco Unified School District.
Fred was predeceased by Helen Quinn (mother), Fred Quinn Sr. (father), Robert Quinn (brother).
He is survived by Fred Quinn III (son), Olivia Quinn (daughter-in-law), Mia & Hunter Quinn (grandchildren).
A celebration of life will be held on May 27th at the residence Fred called home for over 50 years in the San Francisco.
