Austin Bernard Jason III, son of Bernice Jason and the late Austin Jason Jr., was born February 20, 1964 in Redwood City, CA. Austin was a warm and affectionate individual who found solace in his faith from an early age. He was raised in Menlo Park where he attended public schools and graduated from Menlo-Atherton High School. Embodying a diligent work ethic and a passion of working with others, Austin proudly served in the United States Navy and eventually picked up construction as his trade. His passion for collaboration fostered deep connections with those around him, and he took great pride in nurturing these relationships.
Austin's love for fishing brought him immense joy, and he took delight in showcasing the fish he would catch. Cooking was another pastime he enjoyed, and he enjoyed sharing what he was cooking on social media. He loved old school music and possessed a beautiful singing voice, a gift he graciously shared with others. Notably, Austin's unwavering loyalty to the San Francisco 49ers was an integral part of his identity, and he made sure everyone knew it.
Austin's unwavering commitment to his loved ones was evident in his persistent attempts to reach out and connect, always willing to make that extra call to ensure he could reach you. He was characterized by his family and friends as warm hearted, fun spirited, loving, and one who touched the lives of all the people he knew in a very special way. To know him was to love him. He will be sorely missed by family and friends.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his daughter, Nekelia Jason of Oakland, CA; two sons, Austin Ramil Jason IV of East Palo Alto, CA and Tyler Jason of Fairfield, CA; his mother, Bernice Jason of Pflugerville, TX; his five sisters, Wilma Faye Minor of Antioch; Pauline Jackson of Antioch, CA; Peggy Williams (Harry) of Menlo Park, CA; Cynthia Reed (Jeff) of Turlock, CA; Beverly Yarbrough (Monroe) of Manor, TX; his four grandchildren, Shamil Jason, Deh’Rion Liggins, A’Sani Tillman, and Milaan Jason; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives.
A Funeral Service for Austin will be held Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Jerusalem Baptist Church, 398 Sheridan Avenue, Palo Alto, CA, 94306.
Austin will be laid to rest at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Avenue, Hughson, CA, 95326.
Serving as pallbearers are, Mario Carvajal, Avery Drakes, Reyhan Minor, Jeff Reed, Shakeem Williams and Kahri Griggs.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are, Shad Jackson, Kennedy McGraw, Khalifa Minor, Kadeem Williams, Anthony Wright and Malik Yarbrough.
