Wayne grew up in Toledo Washington. His parents moved to Longview and he graduated high school from Mark Morris. He went on to graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Washington State University. Go Cougs! This was where he met his wife, Jeannie Manwell of Aberdeen Washington. They were married until her passing in 2015. Wayne spent nearly 50 years serving Olympia Federal Savings where he rose to CEO. Upon retirement he served on their board until his death. Wayne was active in the community where he belonged to such clubs as Rotary and served on the Providence St Peters Foundation board, Saint Martin's University board, and was involved in countless community events. He loved his Cougs, golfing, fishing and crabbing with his high school buddies, a good steak, BBQ, Seattle sports teams, and most of all, his family.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and wife Jeannie Staley. He is survived by his son Michael Staley, daughter in law Sara Staley, their two children Summer Staley and Ryan Staley; Ryan’s wife Cori Staley and his great grandchild Forrest Staley; and by his daughter Lisa Cacal, son in law Vicente Cacal and their daughter Maile Cacal and Lisa’s step sons Noa and Kai Cacal. He is also survived by his two sisters, Karen Kretschmer and Jill Staley. And a bunch of great friends!
There will be an open house style Celebration of Life for Wayne at Indian Summer Country Club on Sunday, April 30, 2023 from 12-4. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Providence Southwest Washington Foundation.
