Stephanie was born on January 13, 1943 in San Jose, California and was a 25 year resident of Olympia, Washington. She spent the winter months "snow-birding" with her family and friends in Desert Hot Springs, CA and summers in Washington. She attended Samuel Merritt Hospital School of Nursing; Mills College; Oakland, CA and was a Diagnostic Cardiovascular Technician at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in San Jose until her retirement. She had a life-long love of all things gardening, and loved spring wildflowers. She was an avid quilter, and belonged to the Ruby Street Quiltworks Quilting Group in Olympia, WA, and the Two Springs Resort Quilting Group in Desert Hot Springs. She thoroughly enjoyed baking, making beautiful quilts for family and friends, our Wounded Warriors, and for children entering the foster care system. She loved RV'ing throughout the USA and Canada, and made many dear friends along the way. She attended St. Michael's Catholic Parish in Olympia, and was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, San Jose, CA Chapter #31.
Stephanie had deep roots in the Santa Clara Valley of the south San Francisco Bay Area, and was a direct descendant of one of Santa Clara County's Original pioneering/founding families. She is preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Dorris Pyle. She is survived by husband Ernest "Ernie" Brown, sister Cynthia Greene of Albany, Oregon, daughters Annie Raish of Apple Valley, CA and Jennifer Harman of San Jose, CA, Son-in-Law Todd Harman, Grandchildren Joseph Lancaster (and wife Christie,) Nicholas Lancaster, Brooke Harman, and Brandon Harman, great-granddaughter Riley Lancaster, nephews Thomas Leggate and Andrew Leggate, cousin Robert Cook, and many grand-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her very loved Pekingese, "Honey Bun."
She passed away unexpectedly on March 3, 2019 in Desert Hot Springs. She is deeply missed.
