Ruth Eileen Wolfe Ruth Eileen (Glassburn) Wolfe, born January 15, 1922 in Peru, Indiana, passed away on May 23, 2015 at the age of 93. Ruth lived a long and full life, and departed surrounded by her loving family.
She was the youngest of three girls, and lived in the family home until she married at the age of 23. After graduation from Bunker Hill High School in 1939, she went to work for Kroger's in Peru and eventually became a meat cutter during WWII. On September 21, 1945 she married Curtis N. Wolfe and started married life in Memphis, TN.
As a career Army officer's wife, Ruth made homes for her family in Milwaukee, WI, Akron, OH, Peru, IN, Yokohama, Japan, Atlanta, GA, Anchorage, AK and Juneau, AK. The final Army move brought them to Seattle, WA and a new career for Curt. As they moved from Seattle to Shelton, and then to Olympia, Ruth worked for a number of school districts in their food services programs. In 1983, following retirement, they moved to Lacey and settled in Vista Village, where Ruth lived for 32 years.
In retirement, Ruth and Curt enjoyed travelling many miles in their motorhome, seeing several parts of the country while visiting family and friends. After Curt's death in 1990, she continued to travel, and enjoyed gardening and activities in Vista Village. Her happiest moments were time shared with her family. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Wolfe, Bellingham, WA; her son, Duane and daughter-in-law, Julie Wolfe, Port Angeles, WA; grandson, Brandon Wolfe, Bellingham WA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth will long be remembered as a warm and generous friend to all who met her. She loved family, friends and the simple things in life.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 4, 2015 at noon at Mills and Mills Funeral Home in Tumwater, WA, with burial and reception following the service.
