Roy and his family moved to the South Bay area in Olympia, Washington when he was young. Roy Graduated from Olympia High School in 1950.
He met and married the love of his life Marjorie Shumate. Together they raised 2 sons and 1 daughter. David, Steven and Susan. Roy and Marjorie bought their family home in West Olympia.
Roy retired from the State Hwy Department in 1983. He also retired from the Army Reserves.
Roy and Marjorie took many trips together. They loved collecting vintage marbles and for years traveled to marble conventions.
Roy had the greatest ability and it was in his nature to be able to strike up a conversation and talk with anyone. He could light up a room.
Roy had the greatest love for his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Roy loved his family with his entire being and gave the best hugs and always had a smile.
Roy gave advice whenever one of us needed it. He would listen first and always gave us positive advice. He had a heart of gold. Roy always took pride in our yard making it pristine. Roy loved making his special soup and sharing it with the family.
Roy is survived by his wife Marjorie, sons David (Diane) Leicht, Steven (Pam) Leicht and daughter Susan (Frank) Curry, 6 grandchildren Eric (Elise) Leicht, Mia Leicht, (Casey Geldermann). Sarah (Sergio) Pizana, Cory (Jana) Leicht, Nathan (Megan) Bennett, Brandi Bennett, Joe Reed, 11 great grandchildren: Sonora Leicht, Samantha Pizana, Vanessa Pizana, Ethan Leicht, Maizie Leicht, Brayden Bennett, Austin Bennett, Cayson Bennett, Kyler Reed, Kenzley Reed and Kennadi Reed.
He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Emma Leicht, his sisters Alice Spjut, Judy Lamm, brothers Walter Leicht and Allen Leicht.
There will be a graveside service for family only.
